The skagit custom deck difference

Expert Craftsmanship, Integrity, and Unmatched Value

Our core values are evident in every project we complete.  We believe in using only the finest products and processes with the goal of creating outdoor spaces that are beautiful, lasting, and easy to maintain.  In an era where quick and cheap is the norm in the building industry, we desire to stand apart from the rest with our unwavering commitment to a quality product - a product that has no equal.

Rather than cutting corners to save costs, we ensure that each product we use is proven to perform - whether it be the framing lumber, hardware and fasteners, decking, or railing, you can rest assured that we are using the best product available.  We take that extra step, and go that extra mile for you, our customer.

Since its establishment, our company has experienced steady growth as a result of our steadfast commitment to our core values. Rather than ride a boom and bust market, our goal has been and continues to be to produce the highest quality product fit for the most discerning customers; our dedication to that goal has paid off with a sterling reputation for doing more than what we say, providing excellent service, and for habitually exceeding our customer's expectations.

From the quotes I received for building a new deck Skagit Custom Decks stood out for their professional presentation, competitive pricing and itemized quote. I was pleased with their work and professionalism from day one. They were meticulous in everything they did, were a pleasure to work with and gave me a deck that exceeded my expectations. For them my deck was not another job, but an opportunity to create something beautiful, and beautiful it is. I could not be more pleased with their work and will use them for all my future remodels/additions. Kudos to Chad and crew for a job well done!

Skagit Custom Decks just finished replacing our big beachfront deck on Guemes Island. In every way it was a pleasure dealing with Chad and we’d highly recommend him. It was a big project, with removal and repair of old deck, discovery of rot, replacing Windows under the deck. The construction went smoothly as planned. Communication was excellent; always responsive. The new deck exceeds our expectations. The hardwood he used is gorgeous. Chad is a true craftsman, every detail is perfect, fittings are tight. We are so glad we found him!

Skagit Custom Decks worked with my wife and I for months, as we designed together and planned our new deck. We are very picky customers, who wanted this new deck to add value to our home, and to be essentially a maintenance-free deck, specially here, in the Pacific Northwest. Chad, the owner, came to our house several times, even on Sundays, to make sure that we were 100% in agreement with the entire project design, as we kept adding new ideas to the project. When we finalized the plans, and we signed the contract, the entire experience of destroying the old deck and building the new one was worry-free. They took care of everything! Even when we made some last-minute changes to the lighting of the deck, Chad was able to accomodate our changes very easily, and make recommendations on the type of lighting that we should install. His recommendations on the type of materials to use for our new deck have paid off, as we are 100% satisfied with our new beautiful deck! I would highly recommend this company for any small or large building projects!

Top marks for this fine craftsman. The deck is beautiful, the work was done eagerly, efficiently and with a keen eye to detail. On time performance, listened carefully to our goals, made every effort to keep the worksite tidy, kept us informed along the way. We would hire him again without hesitation.

Who we are

Chad Gailey, the owner of Skagit Custom Decks and its parent company Dihedral Builders, LLC, was born and raised in western Washington.  He showed interest in building from a young age, and as the son of a general contractor, spent quite a bit of time on job sites.  After serving his country in the US Coast Guard, Chad earned a Biology degree from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and subsequently attended Occupational Therapy school through Creighton University. It was during graduate school that Chad established his first building company, and later decided that he was more interested in building than working in the medical field.  Chad has a passion for building, which is evident in the quality of work that he and his crew produce.

When not designing or building your dream deck, he enjoys rock climbing, skiing, mountaineering, backpacking hiking, and camping with his wife and 4 children.  He is a resident of Anacortes, and feels privileged to serve his neighbors.
